"Patrol by yourself, I'm gonna do it my way, Tayo, can you give me a ride?"
- Rookie after parting ways from Pat for fighting over efficient police patrolling
The Perfect duo, Rookie and Pat is the 2nd episode in Season 2 of Tayo the Little Bus. In overall, it is the 28th episode. Plot Summary[]Upon finding a bus stop covered in graffiti one day, Rookie and Pat decide to investigate, but conflict arises as Rookie wants to use cutting-edge technology while Pat insists they patrol on foot. Characters[]Synopsis[]Tayo is running his route and notices that the passengers are unhappy because the bus route signs are covered in graffiti. Rookie and Pat arrive to investigate and advise Tayo to report to the police if he sees anyone scribbling. Rookie is unable to find any clues, so he uses a tablet computer to predict the next crime scene. The computer indicates that it will be at Bus Station 8. However, Pat is against putting his trust into computers and argues that careful investigation is the best method. The two search all day for the criminal, but to no avail. Rookie still reckons they should've taken the computer's advice, but Pat still doesn't agree. Just then, a call comes through on the radio saying that the criminal has been spotted at Bus Station 8, just like Rookie expected. Rookie then uses his computer to find the fastest route to the station, but Pat insists that he knows the streets better than anyone. Refusing to take Rookie's advice, he goes his own way and is blocked by some roadworks, and by the time they arrive, the criminal has escaped. That night, the little buses are discussing the vandalised routes. Rogi and Gani describe how they've had a hard time because the passengers have been boarding the wrong buses. But Lani thinks that the scribbles look pretty and well drawn, much to the disapproval of the other buses. Tayo advises them all to report to the police if they see the criminal. A few days later, Rookie and Pat still haven't found the criminal. They blame it on each other for not taking each other's advice and fall out with each other, forcing Rookie to ask a passing Tayo for a lift. After dropping Rookie off, Tayo notices a man painting at the next bus station. While he rushes off to get Rookie, Lani lures the man out of hiding by complementing his artwork. He introduces himself as Andy, then proceeds to explain that he's an artist and that the reason why he's been painting on the bus routes is because it's the only way for people to see his art as he can't afford to open his own art exhibition. Lani understands, but tells him that people may hate his drawings if he puts them on bus routes, for which Andy apologises. Lani suggests that he looks around for a better place to draw. Just then, Tayo arrives with Rookie. Andy flees into a nearby alley, while Rookie gives chase. Andy is very fast, making it difficult for Rookie to catch him, and things don't get any easier when Andy knocks over a crate of apples being carried by a store worker, resulting in Rookie slipping over. Andy accidentally trips and throws his paint on Rookie's head. He's just about to escape, when thankfully, Pat arrives and stops him. Rookie severely reprimands Andy for the trouble he's caused, and Andy agrees to clear up his drawings. Rookie thanks Pat for saving the day and reckons he was right for patrolling the area after all. However, Pat reckons Rookie saved the day for finding the criminal. But Rookie tells him that it was the buses who found the criminal, so Pat praises them when they arrive. Tayo jokingly tells Rookie that he "looks like Rogi" upon noticing him covered in green paint. Andy paints his next picture on the wall of the construction site. Rookie and Pat come past on their patrol and praise him for making the streets look prettier, and Andy is delighted to be able to put his art where everyone can see it. Before they head off, Pat asks Rookie to search for the fastest route. Trivia[]
